Hi! I’m Chelsea.
About me
I’m Chelsea: cat lover, INFJ, nerd culture enthusiast.
In college, my first day of Fashion Design classes, my professor, the late, great Jeigh Singleton, told me, “Art is great. But, let’s be real, ain’t nobody cares about your feelings. That isn’t real. But, a good outfit? Honey, that’s real.” It stuck with me, because it was the first time that the fundamental difference between designer and artist was articulated to me. Art is a monologue. Design is a conversation.
I am a designer. For the last 15 years, I have been a product designer, with a particular specialty in user-focused design. Working in niche markets, I’ve excelled at designing products that solve problems in the customer’s lives. Whether it was a temperature control sheet set, a stylish men’s boot with an inside zipper, or a tool for financial advisors to more efficiently run their offices; my approach to design has always been to examine how this piece will better the life of the end user.
I graduated from the UX cohort of CoderGirl in July of 2019, learning how to apply my past professional experience into the tech industry. For the last 4 years, I’ve been designing within the FinTech space. I’ve shown a small fraction of my work here and have more to share. I hope you stick around to see more!
